Blogger in draft…
While reading through my Google Reader this morning, I spotted this item on Google Operating System, about the “new new Blogger”, called Blogger in draft. The first new feature is video uploading. So, here goes, with a clip of the CP2816, a steam engine, recorded two years ago from a public location.
Enjoy
In case the video doesn’t work, here’s a picture of the engine -
And now the video -

Pretty cool - both the video embedding and its content. And that’s not an ordinary, garden-variety locomotive, is it? Looks like a retro/restored engine.
In this part of Florida we see pretty much just Amtrak trains, always gray/silver, seldom dressed up.
Have you taken many train rides over the years?

From the Canadian Pacific website -
“The resurrected CPR Empress locomotive 2816 re-entered active service in 2001 as a roving ambassador for Canadian Pacific Railway. The CPR Empress is now a significant component of the company’s program. CPR’s 2816 is a class H1b Hudson-type locomotive built by Montreal Locomotive Works in December 1930. CPR Empress is now the only surviving H1b Hudson and is one of only a handful of preserved and operating CPR steam locomotives in North America.”
As far as train rides, I’ve done a few, all on good ol’ Amtrak, except for the two trips I’ve taken on the Washington Metro. This’ll make for a good blog post one time there
