I have to say that I’m quite surprised that I have won an award for my efforts, but I have. I’ve been awarded the Power of Schmooze Award (officially, the “Blogging Community Involvement Award”) by my friend Snoskred.
The main reason that I earned this award is that took the initiative and created the US Blogs Community on Bumpzee, and I am out there maintaining the links lists, keeping a note on the blogs and reading through the RSS feed on a regular basis. Also, while I haven’t done a big recruiting drive lately, I do go around from time to time and invite folks to submit their blogs to the community.
As far as who I am going to give the award to myself, I can think of three folks right off the bat –
– Radioactive Jam, even if blog jumping isn’t exercise, he’s one of the best community builders out there (and, incidentally, one of the first to sign up for the US Blogs community).
– The folks at the Reader Appreciation Project, who host some great discussions about how us bloggers interact with our readers.
– Kate, from A Byootaful Life. I mean, anyone who creates the Digg cake (among other things ;)) and stops by with a suggestion to fix a broken page is definitely a schmoozer in my book 😉
The “rules” say that I have 5 to give out, but I’m exercising my right as a newly
haughty awarded person to let it at three. For now; you never know, one day I might just say, hey, they’re a schmoozer, they deserve one as well 🙂
Anyway, schmooze is a fun word to say, no?
