Volunteering is a great thing to do. <br/><br/>My Mommie volunteers at a no-kill cat rescue shelter three mornings a week (a total of about 10 hours/week). Some of it is not very glamorous work like cleaning cages, washing food dishes and stuff like that. But she also gives medications, spends lots of time with the cats, and over the past year has developed close relationships with some of the long term resident cats. <br/><br/>She gets to celebrate whenever a cat finds a new home, but also feel sad at the number of people "surrendering" their pets. It is a rewarding and enlightening experience. Hooray for you! Volunteering is a great thing to do.

I trained for it, I really wanted to, and then I called a bunch of numbers I was given, then nothing. So I never actually got to do it. I always found that weird. Are they suspicious of someone who wants to work for free?
