Last year, I found out about NaBloPoMo a couple of days too late to get involved in all the fun of blogging every day, preferring to challenge myself to comment on as many blogs as possible, along with blogging every day.
It just so happened that a couple of weeks ago, I was talking about my blog and that NaBloPoMo was coming up again, but nothing was mentioned about it. I decided to set a Google alert for it and within a couple of days, I got word that it was coming back, this time with some changes.
The first change is that there’s a new home for NaBloPoMo, a part of the Ning network. I am member #390 of NaBloPoMo, a relatively low number, when you consider that if you sign up today, you’d be somewhere around #1200.
The other thing is that, since it is part of a social networking site, you can join various groups. There are groups for quite a few niches, and it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that I have gone and made my own group, for the niche I know: American bloggers. If you’re a member of NaBloPoMo already and are in the States, be sure to sign up. If you’re in other parts of the world, go through the groups and see if you’re represented (I know that the Aussies, Canadians, and
Poms Brits are covered, for a start).
If not, then make your own group! 😉
I didn’t realize this, but you can sort the groups by popularity. It turns out that I am the owner of the second-most-popular group there, but with only half the number of members as the Mommy bloggers group… 🙂
