Asking for some Advice

This is going to sound like one of those out-of-left-field things, but I’m going to ask for some advice about my dog; she’s had this tendency for a bit of time to lick herself on her front legs, for seemingly no reason at all. I’ve put things over her legs to stop the licking for periods of time, but of course, she just gets up and moves away from the barrier.

What I’m wondering is the following -

  • Why is this happening?
  • How can I help to stop it?
  • Is it something that I should even be worried about?

One bit of advice I’d been given already was to give her Benadryl, but I’m not sure I should be giving drugs to my dog (at least ones other than the usual stuff you do every month).

Thanks! :)

I’d take her to the vet, just to check that she doesn’t have allergies which are making her legs itch. You’ve checked for fleas? Because that might be it too. All in all, I think the best option is to check with a vet, because they can tell you exactly what is wrong and what you can do to fix it. :)

It could be an allergy or, if it’s contained to just her front legs, a habit like chewing one’s fingernails.
Get her checked out by a vet just to be safe.
