Thank you oh wise government folks

Yeah, I’m in a bit of a random mode again, but considering that tonight is the night that we all lose an hour (well, except for Arizona and Hawai’i) in that annual ritual of moving the clocks forward, I wanted to thank our friends in Washington for the fact that we are able to have light in the middle of March at 7PM. Never mind the fact that it’s still dark at 7AM as well…

However, there is good news – my job is going well, and I even put in some extra time yesterday – 3 extra hours which was nice because it picked up the extra 1/2 hour I lost from Monday (cos of starting training after the shift started), and I’ll have some extra pay in my first week’s pay packet.

So far, I’m liking the job – it’s basically me sitting in front of a computer for 4 hours, chatting to people in a few states, asking if they would be interested in making a sponsorship deal with an organization (no, it’s not big amounts of money, but every dollar helps). The best part of it is that there is no pressure when it comes to making sales, and the important thing is getting calls made to folks and asking the question.

My favorite part though is the fact that I’m working with a bunch of really nice people, and they don’t judge me based on my appearances (admittedly I’m not the snappiest dresser, but I’m not a slob either). If you have questions, they’ll answer them, and usually you’ll hear anecdotes about the folks that they are calling (I’ve heard a few stories already, and there is a wide range out there, from reports of people on lakes to heart surgeries).

Another good thing is that because I’m doing this constant talking, I’m back to drinking a more appropriate level of water, which is awesome. 🙂

Really, the only hitch in this has come today, when I got a call from my contact who got me this job asking about why I worked 3 hours one night – simple, it was 3 hours above what I am required to do. 😉
