It’s never too early to think ahead

Note: This is a sponsored post.

I just turned another year older yesterday, and while it’s at least another thirty or so years before I considering retiring, it’s never too early to think about the day that I won’t be here. I know it’s something that I don’t think about that often, but I know that it’s going to happen one day. I also know that I will likely be involved in settling estates of my relatives in the future, which involves the world of wills and probate courts.

However, there are ways that you can possibly avoid having the estate brought through the lengthy and public probate process; the most common of which is setting up a living trust. Under the law, a living trust is a legal entity that holds your property as a guardian in case something would happen to you or someone else who is a part of the trust.

If you’re in Arizona, you probably are already aware that there are many options available for living trusts, more so because of the state’s status as a magnet for retirees to relocate. One of the premier firms in the state is Morris, Hall & Kinghorn; who have over 30 years of experience in the field of estate planning. They also have experience in handling issues important to an aging population, and can assist you with finding an attorney in your home state or for someone you love who is in another part of the country.

The most important thing, however, is to realize that it’s never too early to begin planning how to handle your belongings and assets. It doesn’t matter if you’re 24, 34, 44, 54 or older; if you have someone you care about in your life, and are in Arizona, look into the services Morris, Hall & Kinghorn are able to provide to you at any age.

Take a walk for a good cause

Note: This is a sponsored post.

One of the emerging health problems facing the US today is Alzheimer’s Disease, especially as the average age of our population goes up. It is a condition that receives some attention, especially when a famous person is affected by the disease; the most notable case being President Reagan. There is one organization who are making an effort to get the word out there about the disease, along with finding ways of defeating it.

The Alzheimer’s Association has been in existence since 1979, and every year since 1989, they have been holding Memory Walks across the country, raising in excess of $225 million for Alzheimer’s research and support for the people who have been affected by the disease. While I do not have anyone in my immediate family who has the disease - I’ve seen its effect on actual patients and their families.

In fact, one place that touched very well on the disease and its effects was the TV show The West Wing - where CJ, the Press Secretary, had a father who was affected by the disease. It was the focus of an episode from season 4 - The Long Goodbye, where she has to go home and handle the effects the disease has already had on her father, including the fact that his wife has left him.

Memory Walk

Over the next two months, over 600 Memory Walks will be held, including two in my immediate vicinity - I’ve seen the banners for the walk in previous years around the area it is held in but haven’t looked into any of the details of the actual walk. Right now, the Alzheimer’s Association is looking for people to sign up as a Team Captain for the Memory Walk.

What being a team captain involves is leading a group of approximately ten other people in raising funds for the walk, and to rally support - either from the general community, or from within the group you’ve recruited your team members from. They could be the people you work with, your neighbors, your friends - anyone; all they need is an interest to help out for a good cause.

Also, as a team captain, you get some experience with being a team leader, a team player, and also some basic management skills - great things to have on a resume to send to potential employers - it could help make the difference between getting that job or being passed over. It also shows that you’re willing to be a leader within your community and willing to take the initiative to get something started that you may not have done in the past.

On the page to sign up as a Team Captain, the Alzheimer’s Association has all the information you need - where the walks are located, tips on how to set goals for your team. If you do decide to sign up, you will have access to tools that will allow you to make a website for your team. You can then use that website as a headquarters for your team’s fundraising operations.

I haven’t decided whether I am going to do the walk or not, but if you’re interested in signing up, definitely go for it! I have done a couple of other similar walks in the past, and they have been a lot of fun - even if I didn’t finish the complete distance. One thing about the Memory Walks is that they’re relatively short - 2-3 miles, or, about the same amount of walking I’m already doing on a daily basis. However, it’s not all about the distance - it’s all about raising awareness of Alzheimer’s and raising funds for the Alzheimer’s Association.

What do readers click on?

Note: This is a sponsored post.

One of the biggest challenges facing bloggers is getting your readers to click the links you want them to click. For example, I can post a link to a site and say that it’s the best thing that I’ve ever seen. I might even quote a bit of the site in a post. However, only one or two people will actually click on that link. If you take the number of people who click on a link and divide that by the total number of visitors to your site, you get a Click Through Rate, abbreviated to CTR in the business. For most sites and advertisers, a CTR of 0.5-2% is considered good. If it’s higher, then you must be doing something right.

PayPerPost falls into that group of advertisers doing things right. They’ve done a study and it has shown that, on average, sponsored posts have a 10.545% CTR. If you think of that in sheer numbers, that means that if your site has 1000 visitors, 105 of them will likely click on a link in an sponsored post. Of course, there are some posts and sponsors that do better and some that do worse, but to have a 10.545% average is amazing.

If you’re curious what kind of links your visitors are clicking on, you can use Site Meter’s free tracker, but you must use the JavaScript version. The problem with that is they insert an iframe which will set cookies for a site called specificclick.net - a site that will track your movements across the web - unless you block them from sending you data, which you can do with Adblock or Adblock Plus for Firefox. For now, I’ve turned off the Javascript version, but I’m considering turning it back on. As much as I dislike them having sold out and put extra tracking information on your computer, they do have some decent stats including the outgoing click tracking.

PayPerPost - a way to make some extra cash

Note: This post is a sponsored post.

A while ago, I had spotted a bunch of posts on a blog marked as “PPP” and they mentioned a thing about “Pay Per Post” - as it turns out, this person was getting paid for posting about products and services that they may or may not use. At the time, I was still relatively new to blogging, so I didn’t think much about signing up, but then a few months later, I took another look at the idea of getting paid to blog. As it turns out, there are quite a few services that you can sign up for, but one of the quickest to get started going with is payperpost - all you need to do is sign up, put in your blog’s information and within the space of a day or two, you can start earning money. Pretty nice, eh?

However, if you’re looking to use just payperpost to make all your money online, you really should consider diversifying your options, just like a good investor. Also, if you don’t have a Google PageRank or Alexa rating yet - you will be limited in your opportunities; however, as you start blogging and getting yourself out there to do blog marketing, that will get itself sorted over time.

If you haven’t checked out payperpost yet, it might be for you - just a couple of opportunities a month can pay your blog’s hosting for that month alone, depending on how much it costs. Or, you can set it aside and get something really nice for you - if it were me, I’d buy myself an HD card for my computer, or get some hosting for my blog. :)

Important Note

In the last couple of hours, a few people searching for the name of the “Italian” gentleman (MR DON FABIANO JUTOLIO CHICHI) who sent one of my baiting characters a threat the other day.

If you are coming here as a result of looking for this, please do not reply to them. There is nobody coming for you, and the only purpose for the letter is to take your money from you, in the name of supposedly stopping this threat. If you need more assistance, please contact me by leaving a comment or sending me an email by using the button on the right.
